Influential Australian silversmith, designer of small objects and jewels she directly produces in her small and yet efficient laboratory in Melbourne in small series, Susan Cohn (Sydney, 1952) is also an active lecturer in international design schools.
Visually, the Cohncave bowl impresses with its simple and clear appearance. Designed in 1992, it hides an extremely sophisticated design idea in its history. Susan Cohn (Sydney, 1952) was inspired by containers in which food was once stored. The bowl consists of two lacquered metal meshes superimposed on each other, which are held together by a stainless steel frame. This is how the idea arose to create a penetrating play of light, also called the Moiré effect, by superimposing two meshes.
