LES TOPETTES is a perfume shop tucked away in Barcelona's Raval area. Behind the counter stands Oriol Montañés. Beneath it, his dog. And all around, shelves brimming with fragrances your nose would never have imagined, but your skin will crave from the moment you step inside. Among them all, we are particularly taken with Lápiz. The name is no misdirection: it smells exactly like a freshly sharpened pencil. Once you're told, it’s obvious. Otherwise, what you’ll detect is a vaguely familiar aroma—woody, deep, and astringent, with a quiet, understated nobility.
