Picofino Original Gin
Gin with 5 distillations — 20 mL
PRESENTATION
Type: Gin
Capacity: 0.20 L
Graduation: 40º
Distillery: The Patito Ruso Company
PRODUCTION
Distilled 5 times with a carefully selected blend of botanicals, this gin boasts complex aromas enhanced by citrus notes of grapefruit, Ceylon cinnamon, and a liquorice maceration that lends it its distinctive character
TASTING NOTES
On the nose, behind a very subtle layer of alcohol, juniper takes centre stage alongside pronounced citrus and fruity notes of grapefruit
On the palate, it is exceptionally smooth, silky, and refined. The citrus aromas are intensified by the grapefruit distillation, while the Ceylon cinnamon adds a delicate sweetness. This is beautifully balanced by the dryness and bitterness of liquorice root and the bold presence of juniper distillate
SERVING SUGGESTIONS
Classic Gin & Tonic: Its complexity calls for minimal embellishment —simply chill a wide glass in advance, add a twist of citrus (ideally grapefruit), and top with a well-chilled, low-sugar tonic. Use large, solid ice cubes in generous amounts
Alone: Its silky, slightly creamy mouthfeel makes it an excellent choice to enjoy simply over ice with a twist of citrus

Picofino is a beautiful clandestine story...
The project took nearly 10 years to come to fruition. It all started in Albuerne, a small village on the Asturian Cantabrian coast—so small that it doesn't even have a bar—where a lover of spirits known as Picofino seeks to create a completely unique gin, crafted artisanally, conducting dozens of tests in small batches that he gave to his friends.
With the help of a distiller friend from Ourense and an old Portuguese copper still, over a period of 8 years, he released a different gin annually. Each year, he gathered the best of the previous year and presented it at a summer party at his place for friends to taste, including some restaurateurs, bartenders, mixologists, and, almost all, compulsive foodies. They all agreed: every year, the gin got better.
The production of Mio Gin (meaning 'his gin') was about 100 numbered bottles per year, entirely artisanal and clandestine, to be shared freely with his own. And so we arrived at the end of 2019, when Picofino Artisan Spirits was born. The rest... is history.
